Its work spans speech recognition, language models, agents, and efficient systems designed around how Nepali is actually spoken, written, and used. In 2026 the lab released Kriti V1, an open 119-million-parameter Nepali speech-recognition model that shares the top rank among nineteen evaluated systems. Naamche Labs releases its models openly, with the evidence, benchmarks, and limitations needed to reproduce every claim. It is based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Why we exist
Most major AI innovation comes from Western labs, where English is the primary language. As Nepali people, we are often a minority in this revolution — and we don't want our language, culture, and identity overlooked in this new technological era. We don't want to simply be observers.
